
Sustain-IT introduces Politeknika Txorierri, its project coordinator. Politeknika Txorierri is a renowned vocational education and training (VET) center specialising in science and technology/ It is located in Derio, in the autonomous community of Basque Country, northern Spain. Annually, the institution educates over 400 full-time students and more than 1,000 part-time adult learners, supported by a dedicated staff of 50 professionals.
The development of Sustain-IT’s training programme, focused on environmental monitoring, requires the expertise of a dynamic and committed team to achieve its ambitious goals. With extensive experience in education, particularly in VET, Politeknika Txorierri brings together a team of seasoned experts to drive the implementation of Sustain-IT.
Meet the Team

Anabel Menica, Director of Strategy and Innovation, brings over 20 years of experience in project management and implementation of numerous Erasmus+ initiatives at the European level.

Amaia Lizaso, a graduate with a BA in Environmental Sciences, boasts over eight years of teaching experience. With seven years in environmental consultancy, including environmental impact studies and a project in Bolivia, Amaia has also implemented Challenge-Based Learning in the classroom and participated in Erasmus+ projects related to environmental education.

Enaitz Elejalde, an Electronics Engineer with a Master’s degree in pedagogy, has worked as a Production Engineer at Maier and has been a teacher at Politeknika Txorierri for three years. Enaitz has experience in European project implementation and developing curricular materials in the technology sector.
Politeknika Txorierri team is committed to ensuring the transferability of knowledge among educators and aligning the project with Politeknika Txorierri’s Innovation and Internationalisation strategy. To effectively implement sustainability and environmental education content, the team will:
- Develop the Challenge-Based Learning pedagogical methodology for teachers.
- Serve as the primary contact with the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) for Sustain-IT.
- Oversee the proper development of the IoT Use Cases.
- Contribute to capacity-building initiatives for African teachers, focusing on the digital and green twin transition.
When asked about the significance of the Sustain-IT project to Politeknika Txorierri, the team emphasized:
“Participating for the first time in the Sub Sahara Africa Capacity Building action, Sustain-IT is an ambitious and relevant project to Politeknika Txorierri. With Sustain-IT we would like to foster the attitude and social dimension of agents of change among young students and local communities in Namibia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda via an appropriate educational framework and from the perspective of social-entrepreneurship. We expect that TVET teachers and students will be empowered with key tools so that they can develop competencies to face the world of work as creative, critical, informed, responsible and active citizens through the use of technology.“
