APRO contributes to Sustain-IT to Drive Innovative Green Solutions for Africa

Since its foundation in 1958, APRO Formazione has been committed to training young individuals for the workforce and providing essential professional development for existing employees. APRO, based in Italy, collaborates with over 50 partners on mobility projects, strategic partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives in non-European countries.

In Sustain-IT, APRO is engaged in the development of the three use cases in Solar energy, water and air quality, which will serve as impactful, ready-to-use challenges for environmental monitoring in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) modules for youth in Namibia, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe.

APRO team involved in Sustain-IT include a project manager and capacity-building coordinator who expertly oversees all management aspects of Sustain-IT, drawing on her extensive experience in collaboration with African stakeholders. A technical teacher responsible for training the trainers at African partner schools, enhancing their automation skills to drive sustainability initiatives. Henceforth, a manager who effectively handles the daily operations of Sustain-IT, ensuring seamless procedural execution and robust communication and dissemination activities.

The key participants leading the Sustain-IT initiative from APRO include: 

Alessia Riccardi

A graduate in International and Diplomatic Sciences specialising in development policies and brings years of experience working in Africa and Asia. Since 2021, Alessia has driven projects focused on institutional strengthening (capacity building) and innovation.

Massimo Marone  

Massimo is a professional subject teacher in the tech sector specialising in electrical engineering and automation. Massimo has been an integral part of APRO since 2005.

Francesco Bruno                                                                                          

Francesco is a graduate of International Sciences and Relations who has built a strong background in project management and communications in the environmental sector. Since 2024, he has managed European projects at APRO, propelling the initiatives forward with confidence and expertise.

“For APRO Formazione, Sustain-IT represents a relevant opportunity to be part of a capacity building project focused on digital and green skills in Africa, together with valuable VET providers and international organizations. Our tech branch will be directly involved in train-the-trainer’s activities, consolidating its internationally-oriented expertise, Sustain-IT will also offer our teachers a new perspective on sustainable development cooperation, strengthening their commitment to a greener transition.”
